How to store Hot Melt Adhesive Film for Mats
Nov 11, 2025
1. Control the appropriate storage temperature
The adhesive film should be stored in a temperature-stable environment, avoiding areas with high temperatures or drastic temperature fluctuations. High temperatures can cause the adhesive film to soften or even melt prematurely, damaging its original structure and affecting subsequent bonding. Locations near heat sources such as radiators, stoves, and air conditioner vents should also be avoided to prevent uneven heating. While low storage temperatures will not directly damage the adhesive film, they may cause it to become brittle, making it prone to breakage during subsequent cutting or lamination. Therefore, a moderately warm and stable storage environment is necessary.
2. Manage humidity effectively.
The storage environment must be kept dry, avoiding damp or humid areas such as basements or near bathrooms. A humid environment will cause the adhesive film to absorb moisture from the air, leading to dampness, mold growth, and even affecting the stability of the internal adhesive components. This may cause bubbles or delamination during subsequent heat bonding. At the same time, ensure the adhesive film packaging is intact. If the original packaging is damaged, replace it with well-sealed packaging material immediately to prevent moisture penetration and keep the adhesive film dry.
3. Avoid sunlight and ultraviolet rays.
The adhesive film should be stored in a dark environment, avoiding direct sunlight or prolonged exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation. UV rays accelerate the aging of the adhesive film material, causing discoloration and performance degradation, such as decreased adhesion and reduced flexibility, thus shortening its lifespan. For storage, choose a cool warehouse or a sealed storage cabinet. If using transparent packaging, wrap it with an opaque material to prevent light from affecting the adhesive film and maintain its original performance.

4. Standardized stacking and pollution prevention
When stacking adhesive films, the height must be controlled to avoid excessive pressure that could cause deformation or sticking, especially with rolls of film. Excessive pressure may cause wrinkles at the edges, affecting subsequent cutting and use. Adhesive films of different specifications and batches should be stored separately and clearly labeled to prevent confusion. The storage environment must be kept clean to prevent dust, oil, and other debris from contaminating the film surface. Hands must be clean when handling the film; impurities on the film surface will affect the adhesion during bonding, resulting in weak bonding.
